Portrait Sessions

Booking

The sooner the better as things fill up fast. I require a $100 non-refundable retainer with the balance due on the day of the session. Currently, I only accept e-transfers or cash. Credit card for international clients only.

Session

The session is about 1-2 hours depending on how long everyone lasts, I know the window with little ones (and dads) can be short.

Proofs

About a week after the session you will receive a password-protected proof album for all your images. From this album, you can choose the 20 images that are included in your package or purchase all the images from the session for an additional fee. The proof album typically contains 50-100 proof images. Please note these will only be proofs and your final images will be touched up.

Final Files

Once you have sent over your final copies it will take about a week to get your final images back. You will be provided with a link where you can download your files and either print as you wish or order products through your online gallery.

Preparation

Wardrobe

Wear whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in. Some clients dress up in their “Sunday best”, while others gravitate towards a more cause style. Don’t get too matchy-matchy. Play it up with a mix and match of fabrics, florals, patterns and textures. This will give the photos an extra pop. Layers are also a great option to switch the look up and stay warm if needed. Just make sure to stay away from big logos or cartoon characters and those will date your photos. Feel free to get creative with your existing wardrobe. Please limit 1-2 outfits per session so we are not wasting too much time with changes.

What to bring

If you want to bring a favourite family blanket heirloom or other meaningful props, this is a great way to make your session more unique. That being said you don’t want to overdo it. Keep it simple and timeless. If there is an activity, hobby, or interest your family likes to do we can get creative and try to incorporate it into the session to help bring out personality and connection. For little ones, bring a favourite toy or snack….bribery can go a long way. Also, a favourite helper is always welcome. Anything you think will help put your family at ease.

timing and Locations

Two hours before sunset is the most beautiful and natural lighting. I know with little ones this may be hard and I’m happy to work around their schedule. I like to shoot in natural locations like the outdoors and have lots of great suggestions or also love at-home sessions. Please show up on time as we don’t want to cut into your session time or lose light. Mountain locations might be subjected to a $50-$100 travel fee.

Newborn Sessions

Booking

Once your due date is pencilled in put me on the list of people to notify from the hospital, shoot me an email or text so I can get you booked in.

The best time for newborns is within the first 10 days when they are the sleepiest. After that, they tend to be more aware of their environment and harder to get cute sleepy poses. -

Location

All newborn sessions are done in your home or if you would like to book a studio space let me know. Don’t worry if your house isn’t spotless, just as long as it’s tidy in the rooms we will be shooting in like the bedroom, living room or nursery. Wherever the most natural window light is. For the most part, the main focus will be tight on just the baby.

Session

Typically newborn sessions are done in the mid-morning when the baby is most content and we have great natural window light.

Keep your home a bit warmer by turning up the heat or if you have a space heater it helps keep the baby comfortable and sleep. Yes, we may be sweating but the baby will be nice and cozy.

Right before the session, make sure the baby has a clean diaper and is fed so they are happy and “milk drunk”

If we are incorporating parents and/or siblings we will either do them at the beginning or end of the shoot, babies and children will dictate how the session will flow. When it’s just the babies turn, best to have the other children leave the room to keep a calm environment for the baby.

Finally, it is very important to be relaxed. I know as a first-time parent a lot of things are going on. I have been there and am very comfortable with many years of experience handling babies. A baby can sense stress and anxiety so everyone must be relaxed.
